 In Digital Tech class our teacher told us to make a project from the thing we learned from term 3. Me and my group decided to make a battle bots from the vex robot to fight against the other team. There's 3 people in my group and they are me, Angus, and Jesse

I've learnt that I can build the vex robot kit to different type of robot. I did the development log, help get the pieces for the robot, and design the group poster. Angus built the robot. Jesse made the design poster and built the robot. My next step is not chose Digital Tech again because I didn't enjoy it and digital tech isn't really my thing.

Stem Project

I will be telling you about the work I did in physics. My project is picking a house plan and calculating the voltage,resistance, current, and area.

The aim of this project is to learn about current, voltage, resistance, and ohm's law. 

The house plan I picked was house plan A. I choose 5 light bulbs to go with my house. The room I choose for my house are a bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, kitchen, and a laundry room. Then I calculate the voltage and current of each light bulbs and also measure the area of the house. 

Each light bulbs in path way 1 has 200 volts. The light bulb in path way 2 has 100 volts and every light bulb in path way 3 is 100 volts. The current in path 1 is 8 amps. The current in path way 2 is 4 amps and path way 3 is also 4 amps. The total area of the whole house is 174 square metres.

Voltage (V) How much energy the electrons are carrying. Voltage is measured in volts. Voltage symbol is V

Resistance (R) Used to slow/resist flow of electrons (current). Resistance is measured in ohms. Resistance symbol is R. Each light bulb has 25 voltage and the battery has 200 voltage.

 I didn't really enjoy the project because I'm not interested in learning about voltage stuff. If I had to do it again I would probably choose a different house plan but I don't want to do it again.

Discovery and Vaping

 In health we were set a task that required us to do make something about vaping.

Firstly we had to research about the long term effect of vaping and short term effect. After that we started making our project which is a monopoly like board games but about vaping. Our games teaches about the long term and short term effects of vaping and how dangerous it can be .We choose to make this board game because we thought it was kind a cool to make a board game about vaping since we have never seen a board game about vaping before. Our board game is call Vape City.

I am really proud of the board games we made. It was challenging when getting the resources because we had to see what material we want to use to make the board game. Next time I will make sure I help more and participate in helping with the board game. I had a lot of fun playing and making it.

For my discovery task is how the pyramid were built?

The pyramid was made out of 186 stones weighing an average of 2.2 tons. The 186 stones were carved in 22 days. The structure were erected using 44 men. They used iron hammers, chisels, and levers to build the it.

Today I'm going to tell what I've been doing about ethics and robotics.

I had to watch this movie called I robot. It's about Del Spooner investigates the murder of Dr Alfred, who works at US Robotics, with the help of a robopsychologist. He tries to deduce if a robot has violated the laws of robotics and killed him. The movie is really interesting and intense. I rate the movie 7/10 because it was good but there's some boring parts of it. If you action movie I recommend watching this movie. 

Eye Dissection

Today I will telling you guys what I did for physic class yesterday. In physic class our teacher have been teaching us about how the eye work and the part of the eye. There are 7 main parts of the eye. The cornea is the protective outer layer of the eye. The pupil is where the light enters the eye. The iris control how much light enter the eye. The lens focuses light on to the retina. The retina converts light to electrical impulses. The optic nerve carries the electric impulses to the brain. The humorous is the liquid mush in the middle which gives the eye its shape. After we have learnt about the eyes our teacher put is into groups and gives us a cows eye. It was really stinky and gross. We start off by cutting of the fat around the eye and then we cut a hole in the eye and this black liquid came out it was really gross. After we take out the all of that liquid a clear jelly like thing came out. Them we flip the eye inside out and taking a look at the inside of the eye. It was really interesting to see all of the parts f the eye. I really enjoy the dissection, it was really interesting to see the all of parts and how it works. I've learnt about how the eyes work and its part.

In social studies class I've been learning about human rights. Today I'm gonna be telling you what I've learnt about human rights.

I've learnt that there are 30 types of human rights. Human rights was created along time ago and war happens because some people disagree. Human is very important to us human. We have human rights because we are human. Human rights was created so that people would be treated equally. The most things Interesting I've learnt is that human rights was created along time ago by this guy named Cyrus The Great. I want to know if people have the right to food and shelter but there's people and kids dying from starvation?

Hurricane - Do Now

Today I'm gonna telling you guys what I've learnt about hurricane.

Many hurricane in America are cause by winds blowing across the Atlantic ocean from Africa. Hurricanes can be 10 miles high and over 1000 miles across. Every year from June until December it is hurricane season. There are 5 types of hurricanes and they are based on wind speed. I think this is related to the book The Cay because I feel like there's gonna be a hurricane happening soon in the story.

Phillip and his mother and father live in a town call Willemstad on the island of Curacao. World War ll had begun. Phillip and his mother left Willemstad to Virginia but Phillip didn't want to leave his farther and friends. They left Willemstad and their boat got torpedo by the German and Philip lost his mother and found a black old guy name Timothy on an island.

Langosta is a good source of food but you could use the shells to make stuff like weapon to survive. You could use the shells to make a knife for cutting rope and meat. The shells could also make a good spear to catch fishes for food. You could also use the shells to make a needle to sew clothing.  If you are in a survival situation don't throw away the langosta shells and used them to make survival tools.

We saw Jacinda Apologies for the way the Pacific community was created during the Dom Raid.

Week - 1 Do Now

Today I'm gonna be telling you guys what a Schooner looks like.

 A schooner has a long body and it's made out of wood. The wood looks old and rusty. The schooner has 4 sails. The colour of the boat is black and white on top. If you would be in the boat you would see the water and the inside of the boat. If you were sailing in the boat you would feel the wave rocking the boat and you could hear the wind and the water splashing against the boat.

The U-Boat is the German most formidable naval weapon. The U-boat is 214 feet long and it carried 35 men and 12 torpedoes. The U-boat can travel underwater for 2 hours at a time.

Energy Transformation

 Energy Transformations is when energy is passed from one type to another.

There are 8 types of energy:

1. Kinetic - moving

2. Chemical Potential - energy from food/fuel

3.  Heat - temperature giving energy Hot = lots Cold = not

4. Light - waves of light - visible (can see) or x-ray

5. Gravitational - effect of gravity pushing down

6. Elastic Potential - stretches to load up energy

7. Electrical - anything using power

8. Sound - waves can hear eg. voice, vibrate

Today we made a cannon and after we have done making we take it outside and shoot marshmallows.

The marshmallows started as elastic potential energy and when it shoots it was kinetic energy and then it changes to a gravitational and then it changes back to kinetic energy.

Home Economics Design Process

In my home economics class, we are making chocolate pikelets for our stakeholder which is my teacher.

The stakeholder my partner and I chose was my form teacher.

Me and my partner created a shopping list so our teacher could buy the food for us. We look up the costings on the countdown website. We made created a time management plan so we could finish our cooking on time.

Chocolate pikelets

Ingredients

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup low-fat milk

1 egg

3 tablespoons sugar 

1 cup flour

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 pinch salt

1 tablespoon margarine or 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Toppings

Chocolate syrup

Whipped cream

frozen berries

Method

• In a small bowl, dissolve baking soda in milk, set aside.

• In a large bowl Beat egg and sugar together until thick and pale.

• Sift flour, cocoa, cream of tartar and salt together; Fold the dry ingredients into the beaten egg mixture alternating with adding the milk/baking soda mixture; Last, fold in the melted butter just till combined.

• Heat a greased frying pan and cook 1-2 tablespoonfuls of the pikelet batter until bubbles appear on the surface; Flip the pikelets to cook on the other side for 1 minute or until golden brown.

• We give the chocolate pikelets to our stakeholder and he said it tastes really good. He said that the chocolate sauce and whipped cream tasted really good with the chocolate pikelets.

• I think me and my partner did very well at planning and making the chocolate pikelets for our stakeholder. I like how we communicated with each other as we make the chocolate pikelets.

Heat Transfer

Today in chemistry class we are learning about heat transfer.

Heat transfer is move heat from one place to another.

Conductor of heat can pass on heat from one thing to another. eg warm water, metal

Insulator of heat does not pass of heat. eg oven, styrofoam

Convection is heat transfer without contact.

The experiment we did was we light a tea bag on fire and they burn down and fly up in the air. It was flying because it was hot particles and hot particles are less dense so it goes up. 

When it cool down the paper come back down because cool paticles is more dense so it comes back down.

Teacher should teach high school students about politics and debating because you never know one day the student could become the president. Learning about debating in high school is good because students have their own rule they want to change or add to the country and they will need to know how to debate and persuade the people to do that. Learning about politics is good for high school students.

 Being able to speak in public confidently is an important life skill. If you want to do the news, you got to speak nice, clear, and confident so people could understand what you are talking about. Talking in public confidently is a very important life skill.

 English is the most important subject in school. In school, you need English to speak, write and read. You need to know how to write and read because if there's a sign and it says something you will need to read, if you don't know how to read, you won't know what it is saying. The most important subject in school is English.

Evaporating

Today in Chemistry class we are learning about evaporating, condensing, and distillation.

Evaporation is when a substance gets heated up and it turns from liquid to gas.

Condensation is when you turn a gas into a liquid by cooling it up. 

Distillation is separating a solution using evaporating and condensing.

The aim of our experiment today is to use distillation to separate out the dissolved sugars in coke or coke zero and to see what the liquid looks like after we separate the sugars.

My hypothesis is the zero coke is gonna have less sugar and the normal coke has more sugar and the liquid will still have the same colour after we separate the sugar.

In English class, we are writing an essay about who we think is the most influential person in New Zealand and I'm gonna be showing you all my essays about Jacinda Ardern.

When you think of New Zealand’s most influential person you would probably think of Jacinda Ardern. Jacinda Ardern is New Zealand, current prime minister. She was born on 26 July 1980 in Hamilton.  Jacinda grew up as a Mormon in rural Waikato. Her father worked as a police officer and her mother worked as a school catering assistant. 

Jacinda started her political career in high school. Jacinda was awarded 210k NZD from Harvard University in America. She joined the New Zealand labour party at the age of 18. Jacinda Ardern became the world’s youngest female head of Government at the age of 37. 

Jacinda Ardern did an amazing job of keeping everyone safe and not letting the coronavirus spread. When it’s level 2 Jacinda made people who take public transport wear masks so if they were infected with the virus they don’t spread the virus to other people. In an emergency text message to the resident, Jacinda said “This is a message for all of New Zealand. We are depending on you," it read. "Where you stay tonight is where you must stay from now on. She fixes the lockdown really well by not letting people leave their houses to see their loved ones and telling people not to panic and stayed calm. 

March 15 2019 was a tragic day for the Muslim community. A terrorist attack in the Muslim mosque in Christchurch. 51 people were killed and 40 were injured. Jacinda wore a Hijab to respect the Muslim culture. Jacinda Ardern did an amazing speech describing the shooting that happens at 2 mosques. She said this quote  “they are us” has named quote of the year.

Jacinda Ardern influence and motivate people not give up because when things get tough she keeps pushing and not giving up. Most people look up to her as a real role model. All the hard work and all the good decisions making she did for our country made her the most influential person in New Zealand.

 

Week 5 - Do Now

 The Principal is the most important person in the school

In school, the most important person is the teacher. The teacher does a lot of paperwork behind the scene. Before classes teacher has to set up the task for the student and write stuff on the whiteboard. In my opinion, The teacher is the most important person in school.

 The IP skilled I used today was being inclusive. The warm fuzzies I used are a good idea. I used this IP skill by including other people in my group and myself in the activity. Today I worked with Hamid, Faye, Travis, Kristall, Leo, and Chelsea. We worked well together by sharing ideas and helping each other out. If I got to do this activity I would try not to let my group fall out of the hula hoop. The Hellison's Behaviour Model I worked on today is level 3.

Concentration and Dilute

Hello, today in science class we are learning about concentration and dilute.

Concentration is a measure of how solute has been dissolved into the solvent. 

We can measure in two ways:

- How dilute something is...(how weak it is)

- How concentrated something is...(how strong it is)

Dilution means making something less concentrated.

Today experiment we are doing is a Serial Dilution.

Aim: Carry ut a Serial Dilution with Potassium Permanganate.

Hypothesis: I think it will turn purple when we add it with water.

Observation: When I add the Potassium Permanganate the water turns purple and as I add the liquid with thethe liquid became less and less purple.

Discussion: the First test tube has more  Potassium Permanganate so its purple and the sixth test tube has less  Potassium Permanganate so its colour less with a tint of purple.
